Here Are A Few Lessons About Mexican Car Insurance From An Insurance Agent.
I have been an insurance agent for about 15 years now, and during that time I think I have seen every claim achievable. I have sold every kind of insurance : auto, home, business, life, health, disability, etcetera, and I are currently selling Mexican car insurance.
Insurance in Mexico is a little bit different animal than it is in the U. S. , as there are some coverage restrictions that someone from the united states would not expect to encounter. Below I have listed just one or two of these differences, and please dont confuse this with a complete list of all of the differences, as there are too many to list.
- • Need combined single limit policy – no split limits
- • “Named perils” policy versus “all risk” policy
- • Travel Assistance
Now I would like to address the named dangers versus all risk policy difference. Firstly, what’s named hazards? It is when an insurance plan names the precise perils that are covered by the policy. For example : collision, fire, upset, total burglary, etcetera.
A, so called, all risk policy states that we will cover the insured property for anything that occurs, and then it takes away specific perils, called exclusions. Exclusions that are shared by any insurance cover are : nuclear event, war, civil unrest, and etcetera. I call the all risk policy so called because it does not cover everything. It’ll take away some dangers. However , it provides much more coverage than does the named hazards policy.
almost all Mexican car insurance plans are named perils policies, while almost all united states policies are all risk policies. You have to be conscious of this prior to going to Mexico, and remember that your Mexican vehicle cover will offer a more limited coverage than does your current united states policy. I have yet to find an all risk Mexican policy, and if I find it I would imagine the price would be through the roof.
I really hope that you enjoy your vacation, and that you purchase Mexican car insurance before your trip.
